Liability coverage is important to have in your homeowner's insurance policy so that if an incident occurs on your property, such as a guest falling and being injured or your lawn mower throwing a rock and breaking a neighbor's window, you will not be left to pay all of the legal fees and/or medical expenses that could be a result of such an accident. Personal liability coverage is a part of most insurance policies, but not all. However, at HomeFirst we feel it is imperative that you receive the best protection possible, so we include liability coverage in all of the policies we write!
How much liability coverage is included in each policy?
Every situation and every policy is unique. There are many factors that will affect the amount of liability coverage in your policy such as owning a dog, a swimming pool or a trampoline - just to name a few. Please discuss coverage amounts with your Homefirst licensed agent.
Are medical payments included in my insurance policy?
All HomeFirst policies include medical payments to others. This will pay the necessary medical expenses incurred within one year from the date of an accident, up to the limit of liability stated on your policy. Keep in mind that this only applies to a person who is injured on the insured location who is not the policy holder, a regular resident of the household.
What is a limit of liability?
Limit of liability refers to the maximum amount the insurance company will pay in the event of a covered loss. This is different for each accident as well as from one policy to the next. Refer to your policy or call your agent if you are unsure of the amount of coverage available to you.
